Back in the 1940’s during the Brooklyn factory days, Gretsch was using Double Flange "302" Counter Hoops on the Broadkaster series and we still proudly use them today.
The 302 Hoop (3=3mm and 02=double flange) is lighter in weight and not as stiff as our 4mm die cast hoop and you will notice the difference in the sound and feel of the drums. You’ll find that 302 hoops open up the drums a bit more and they are a bit more “giving” in feel.
“Gretsch 302” Double Flange hoops are the standard build option on all Broadkaster and Brooklyn drum kits, wood snares, and Brooklyn metal snares. All sizes of our 302 hoops are also available as an aftermarket sales part.
